About Us

Monument Community Trust (MCT) has been supporting charities and community groups in Oxfordshire since 2010. In that time, we’ve helped more than 100 voluntary organisations.

We provide support through a small group of Founders, who give their time and expertise voluntarily. With charities facing cuts in funding and having to adapt and change in order to survive, our Founders are more committed than ever to providing ideas and guidance. They each have a background in business, experience of supporting the voluntary sector, and links across Oxfordshire.

Our Founders’ knowledge and connections often help charities to engage more with the business community and find other voluntary sector organisations to collaborate with. They can also review an organisation’s direction and focus, to open up new opportunities. And they ensure that the money MCT raises is used in the best possible way to support others.

John Charlton

With a formal training in marketing management, I developed and operated a number of businesses, ranging from business publishing to consumer services.

I have also worked in the voluntary and charity sector: managing the Community Media Group, which publishes hyperlocal newspapers, and as a trainer for OxBEL, an end-of-life befriending support service.

The best thing about being part of MCT…The amazing people and charities I get to meet. It is truly inspiring.

Paul Mabbutt

I have supported local charities for over 20 years, mainly through various Trustee roles. Plus, for the last 10 years, I’ve been providing mentoring and advice to people running charities.

I also led a great team for 28 years at Jennings, – a business looking after over 100 tenants from our main business park – Monument Park in Chalgrove.

The best thing about being part of MCT… Meeting some incredible people in charities, who dedicate their lives to helping others. It’s also great to see how a small amount of help and support can sometimes make quite a significant difference.
